The Hanmer Heritage Forest is a place of beauty with a great range of walking and mountain bikes tracks, with some easily accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs. The forest has a striking mix of native and exotic plant life, with the oldest part being over 100 years old.
Take a stroll along the Forest Amble to discover the magic of Hanmer’s famous Art in the Forest. You'll find large wooden carvings made from Redwood trees which were originally from Queen Mary Hospital Grounds. The carvings include possums abseiling up in the trees and rats on logs. The Tuatara is a firm favourite with us!
