Mt Sunday Walk Canterbury

Mount Sunday Walk - Hakatere Conservation Park (Canterbury)

Used as a set location for the filming of The Lord of The Rings, Mount Sunday is one of the reasons the Hakatere Conservation Park continues to get visitors from around the world. The walk is only a 1 hour return to the carpark, but the climb up Mount Sunday is a bit steeper than it looks. This is a great day-out if you’re based in Canterbury, or staying at Geraldine TOP 10 Holiday Park. This is a great experience whether you’re a LOTR fan or not!

Rainbow Falls - Kerikeri, Northland

Don’t go chasing waterfalls, or maybe you should – because these ones are beautiful! The Rainbow Falls are located in Kerikeri, Northland and make for the perfect day trip from Paihia TOP 10 Holiday Park. Only a 10-minute stroll from the Rainbow Falls car park, you’ll be treated to the epic sights of the stunning 27m falls. Enjoy them from one of the few viewing platforms, or walk right behind the waterfall itself!

Putangirua Pinnacles Wairarapa

Putangirua Pinnacles - Wairarapa

The Putangirua Pinnacles are just an hour's drive from Martinborough TOP 10 and are a must-do walk if you’re a fan of insane rock formations and centuries of history. Plus, like many incredible spots in Aotearoa, Lord of the Rings fan will recognise this location from the 3rd LOTR film. With a range of tracks, there are a range of options. This track is currently closed due to a slip, so please check with DOC before starting this walk.

Wharariki Beach - Top of the South Island (Nelson/Tasman)

You’ve seen this location if you’ve ever opened a Windows PC and it’s tucked away at the top of the South Island. Wharariki Beach is famous for it’s archway islands, but it also features a seal colony, rock pools, caves and sand dunes. An hours drive from Pohara Beach TOP 10, Wharaiki Beach is a must-see on any NZ road trip.
