Motutere Bay TOP 10 is managed by Julia and Brent, a hands-on couple supported by a tight-knit team who bring heart to everything they do. For them, this isn’t just a Holiday Park, it’s a community. From welcoming first-time campers to catching up with long-time annual guests who’ve been returning for decades, there’s always a story (or two!) being shared over the BBQ.
After more than two decades living in Queenstown, Julia and Brent were drawn to this new adventure. The opportunity to manage Motutere Bay TOP 10 felt like a natural fit, a stunning lakefront location with a strong community and so much potential. Now, they couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Whether the skies are clear or the rain rolls in, the view across Lake Taupō remains a daily reminder of why they fell in love with this place.
Julia, Brent, and the team have created a place where guests are more than just visitors, they’re remembered by name, welcomed like old friends, and often leave feeling like part of the family. It's not unusual for staff to remember someone’s regular site, their dog’s favourite toy, or the story behind their annual visit.
For generations, families have made Motutere Bay TOP 10 Holiday Park their summer tradition, none more so than the Tatton family, who’ve been camping on Site 1 since 1963. Lorna Tatton, who recently celebrated her 103rd birthday, first came to Motutere with her late husband Rex in the early 1950s. Since then, four generations of Tattons have continued the tradition, returning every January without fail. For them, and many others like them, Motutere Bay TOP 10 isn’t just a holiday spot, but a place woven with family memories, laughter, and a deep sense of belonging.
The Park proudly champions local connections. Guests are encouraged to explore nearby attractions, eateries, and activities, often guided by staff recommendations or the carefully curated brochure wall created in partnership with Ninety Black. Supporting local businesses and sharing the very best of the region is second nature there.
What truly sets Motutere Bay TOP 10 apart is the setting itself. Just steps from tents and cabins, the lake invites guests in for morning paddleboards, midday swims, or sunset reflections. It’s this seamless connection to nature, combined with the relaxed pace of lakeside life, that gives the Park its unmistakable charm.
Motutere Bay TOP 10 Holiday Park is a true reflection of the people who run it - genuine, grounded, and Local at Heart.
Whether it’s someone’s first visit or their fiftieth, there’s always a warm welcome waiting at the lake’s edge.
