Travel to Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Drive through Tairua, continue onto State Highway 25 to Whenuakite. Prepare to turn right just after the school.
Travel +-5kms, turn right onto the Hot Water Beach Rd, Hot Water Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park turnoff is on the right just past the bridge.
It is a 700m walk from the holiday park to access the hot pools on the beach. The quickest way to the hot pools is to follow the path alongside the stream out of the holiday park, cross the road at the bridge and walk to your left. Pass the car park on your right and and follow the path to your right passing the public toilets on your left. The path will lead you to the beach where you will walk left in the direction of the big rocks on the tide line (seen at low tide). The hot water beneath the sand surface begins on shore behind these rocks.
The hot pools are only accessible two hours each side of low tide. TOP 10 members will receive a FREE spade.
